Message It's very possible that it is something very simple. From what I've heard, the "soft heads" were in early production Z's. Mine is from 7/89 and it has no problems with about 110k. I did have the low RPM hesitation/stumble until a few weeks ago. I just finally weeded the problem out. Here's what I did...

-new oem plugs
-replaced two injectors (I ohmed them and two were just about dead...)
-spliced in new coil and injector connectors
-removed, ohmed and cleaned the IAA and air regulator
-new oem fuel filter
-cleaned TB's
-new PCV's and hoses
-as many new vaccum lines as I could get at
-cleaned every connection under the hood

After all of that (and I know I forgot some stuff), it ended up being an improperly adjusted TPS (which I had incorrectly adjusted earlier) d'oh! I would get a second opinion on that CAS prob, and go from there... It could be something really easy... but then again maybe not. Hope it works out for you, and I hope this helps a little..
